AIESEP Goes to Jyväskylä in 2024

The University of Jyväskylä is celebrating 160 years of teacher education and 60 years of PE teacher education. Therefore, it is our pleasure to welcome the members of the AIESEP community to Jyväskylä to share their latest research, thoughts, and experiences to create a better understanding on our way to the future. In Jyväskylä the past of PE will meet its future.

The AIESEP 2024 congress will be organized by the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences and is held at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. The program will commence on Monday, May 13^th 2024 with the pre-congress activities such as different Special Interest Group activities and possibilities to become familiar with Finnish education system. The main congress will start on Tuesday, May 14, lasting until Friday afternoon, May 17.

The abstract submission is now open. We invite abstracts for symposiums, oral and poster presentations to be submitted by October 31st 2023. The decision for acceptance will be sent by December 15, 2023.

The main themes and abstract categorizations are:

- Physical education teacher education and professional development

- Health teacher education and professional development

- Coach education and professional development

- Physical literacy, health literacy

- Physical activity in children’s and adolescents’ lives

- Physical activity intervention

- Pedagogy and didactics in physical education

- Physical activity supporting children’s and adolescents’ overall development

Planetary well-being is an important theme in the strategy of the University of Jyväskylä. That is why all aspects of physical activity and education to support the holistic well-being of the planetary ecosystem are highly valued.
